The rose gold Kelly bag contains 1,160 diamonds, and took Pierre Hardy two years to make. The Birkin version (which comes in pink and white gold) is set with 2,712 diamonds (a staggering 90 carats). Both pieces stand around six inches high and can be carried as a small purse with a detachable black strap, used as a tiny evening clutch or worn as a bracelet.

Crowned by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most expensive, the Mouawad’s 1001 Nights Diamonds Purse is valued at $3.8 million. The heart-shaped bag is encrusted with more than 4,517 diamonds – 105 yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colorless. The diamonds on the bag weigh a whopping total of 381.92 carats. The bag was handcrafted from 18-carat gold. It took 10 artisans, working over a period of four months, an incredible 1,100 hours to create the purse.
The Mouawad name may be best known for the firm’s collaboration with Victoria’s Secret in the past decade to produce jewelry-bedecked lingerie, including the $11 million “Very Sexy Fantasy Bra” sporting a 70-carat diamond, modeled in 2003 by Heidi Klum.

The luxury jewellery brand was founded by David Mouawad in 1890. Celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Gisele Bundchen, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have all worn Mouawad jewels - but we have yet to see whether any of them will be entrusted with this record-breaking piecepurse with a detachable black strap, used as a tiny evening clutch or worn as a bracelet.
